Next in this series the GT500KR. The 2008 was the 40th Anniversary Edition of the KR, King of the Road GT500. I'm still trying to make up my mind on how exactly I'm going to work the prints but I'll be making an announcement when it happens.

To get a taste of the GTO Edition follow this link [link]

Hope ya like em. C&C very welcome as always.

If it's a coupe and rough just means a few rust spots, garbage paint, a decent interior, an engine that isn't great but works and can be fixed, and you're just looking for a project that you can drive .... 3 grand ain't bad. I'd try my hand at getting it for $2,500.

Got to say, I love both of the cars. I've never had the pleasure of seeing an old KR in person (there was a new one in an auto show I went to), but I know that msutang year well enough to get a good picture.

By the way, 65 Mustang with a rough body, what looks like foam in the wheel wells, and a 289 with 'a tick' as the guy describes, it, worth three grand? I'm eyeing it.

foam in the wheel wells? Usually if there are signs of hack work done to fix the car, there are more problems than it's worth hiding underneath (foam doesn't automatically mean hack work though). Depending on where you live, and because it's a Mustang, I'd check the frame rails (wet states are rusty and Mustangs rust), what rear end it has (if it's a nine inch it's worth at least a little something even if the gears need replaced), and exaclty HOW many of the body pannels are gonna have to be replaced. If it's "rough" as in, not one single fender is worth keeping, then I'd pass. Also, is it a coupe? Not worth 3 grand. I can get a 65 coupe here in town, all body work done, no drive train, in primer for 3 grand. Body work is where the time and money is. If you get 2 good fenders/quarters, good frame, and a 289 worth repairing AND it's a fastback then it's a steal. If none of those apply, it's a joke.

Well, CT is a horrifying place for cars, and between this guy asking three and a half for a damn fox body with a 2.3, and just the sheer bullshit coming out of this guy's mouth, I don't want anything to do with whatever he's selling.

But yeah, it was a coupe, so there's the final nail in the coffin. Plus, there were these bars bolted on the leaf springs, he claimed the eliminated axle hop, I've never heard of the fucking things in my life. Given, I have no drag racing experience, but still.

Basically, he's used to stupid buyers, there's a lot of them up here, and I'm not one of them. Let the poor bastard rot for all I care.

Hey, you know anything about Fox Body mustangs? I've been considering getting an LX, if the 2.3s are any good.

hahahahaa I hear ya. So he's got two Mustangs he's selling then? If you're a fan of Fox Bodies then your a fan of Fox Bodies, they're love/hate. I'm no expert on them by any stretch (or anything else for that matter) but I do know they have a certain appeal and that's enough to put a little higher price tag on them than any other car from that time period. However, the 5.0 is the only reason I can see to want a Fox and without that, I'd give NADA book price and not a cent more. Especially if it's in ratty condition and if it's a 80s or 90s Ford, then it's in ratty condition, like every other car made in the 80s.
The bars SOUND to me like the sort that Shelby used. They act like traditional traction bars to prevent wheel hop and put the rubber to the pavement. If they are the Shelby style then that's pretty cool. Are these on the Fox or the 65? Did you get to take a closer look at the 65? If you discover that it's a car you are interested in then you can always bullshit a bullshitter to get what you want. Just gotta play the game to get yours.

I like Fox Bodies, but between being an Auto and him high-balling it so much, I've decided to try and find another one. Either that, and be boring and get a Camry. LEastways I know that'll hold together, and I'm sure there's plenty of aftermarket performance parts for it...

But basically, they were selling two cars at the same time, and that just puts me off entirely. I've dealt with used car salesmen before, I know enough when they're willing to work with me and when they're full of shit. This guy was the latter. I'll find another Fox in ten minutes anyway.

hahaha "I'll find another Fox in ten minutes anyway" .... and that's a fact. There is always another car waiting somewhere else.

For less money and at a better value, too, as it always goes.

Because I'm curious like that I looked at NADA and even an '85 SVO with the 5.0 averages around $6,000 and if it's just a used car, not treated like a collectible, it can be as low as $3,000. And a mint LX with a V6 is at $5,000. I picked 85 cause it's a round number. It doesn't represent all fox body mustangs but you get the idea. That shows you the average of the HIGH end and the HIGH of the low end. Should be a fair baseline.
