THE Mustang by cityofthesouth THE Mustang by cityofthesouth
This is the direction my personal car is headed. I just finished (mostly) putting discs of the front, lowering the front suspension, roller perches and a couple other things like the wheels you see pictured and some fat tires. There will be a dream car version ... sort of if money were no object kind of thing ... and this image is version #4 of 5 or 6 right now. My website needs serious updating so I think I'm gonna make you go there to see some of the other versions (like the dream car version) when I get it done. But don't worry, I'll post a couple others here too. But really this is probably what the car is going to look like. I'll most likely be leaving the 67 side scoops in so there will be a drawing with them on down the road too. Ai CS3

Very good work. Perfect. Do you have the link to download the original file? I'm from Brazil and would like to apply this design in my shirts.
Very good indeed his work. Congratulations!

Cool stuff. My only suggestion is to look for more contrast. I know you'll hear a lot of no solid black but contrast helps the image pop.

I have recently battled with displays myself. It's when you go to the printer and it comes out like crap that you really get pissed.

Thing looks pretty hot man, I'm currently looking to get my uncle's kit car, he describes it as "A Kharman Ghia but not" so at least it will look good ;) It's on an old VW Beetle chassis though, so who knows if I can get it any hotter...

What sort of kit car is it then? Everything can get hotter ... hehe.

Nobody's really sure to be honest, my Grandpa built it, so I'll have to call him up and ask, but considering all the running gear is, I believe 72 Beetle (if it matters what year), I'm thinking about maybe getting a motorcycle engine for it, or something in the vein of small and high revs, maybe a hot Honda. First thing would be to sort out the chassis though, discs at all corners if it isn't already, suspension and a tighter steering rack.

Is the body fiberglass or something like that? A google search brings up one with Porsche running gear ... THAT would be cool. But actually something small makes sense. Some kind of nasty little inline 4.

I'm doubting I could swing Porsche gear, but seeing as it's a VW, I won't be able to mount a big motor in it anyway, might as well go for high revs. Though I was thinking of getting a Boxer four, in the Subaru vein. That way, turbocharging would remain a possibility.

nah, I think Porsche stuff is pretty unrealistic. Could be a slick little car though. Let me know if you need a designer. hehe.

Looks gorgeous. That's a '68 front end, isn't it?
I love everything about it, once the real deal gets done you oughta post pictures of it too. I'd love to see.
Also, super nice choice on rims, they're a good compliment to the rest of the car.

This drawing makes it look like a 68 because of the bare grille and missing side scoop stuff. But a 68 would have an inner ring of trim in the grille. My car used to have the bar through the center and the Mustang horse but I torn that crap out right away, so without all that missing the 67s and 68s aren't any different. The actual grille part, the horizontal lines, in this drawing are just made up. I will eventually make a custom grille. For the factory resto guys this thing will be all sorts of confusing. My car is complete with a lot of original parts but because they're original they are beat up. I don't care about originality so if I don't like it I'll be making its replacement from scratch. My car won't just be custom because I like it that way, it'll also be custom because I don't buy anything from parts catalogs that I can build myself. I'll take some pics of it when I get it back on the ground. It's a 20 footer right now which is about as nice as I want to own for a car that gets driven.

Way cool. I thought that the 68 had a bigger grille than the 67, trim notwithstanding. I guess you learn something new every day.
Anyway, I love the car, you should let me drive it around for you. ; D

nah, on the outside 67 and 68 weren't much different (deleted a couple bits, stuck a few new ones on) .... underneath is a different story.

Yeah, it was a beater when I had to sell it. It was starting to burn up all my money and I couldn't afford to fix it properly at the time. I did have fun with it when it was in better shape, though.

I hear ya. I saved money for a long frickin time to get this car and to do what work I've done. Plus, I love Mustangs but old Fords are shit, I hate to admit it .... especially when it comes to rust.

Tell me about it. Rust in the trunk was about ready to send the rear suspension up through the sheet metal. I grimaced with every bump. The rear quarter panel was being eaten alive and the doors were riddled with rust bubbles. It was a terrible mess.
